Pass the Ammo- The Letter

“Fight the good fight of faith”

1 Timothy 6:12

“Pass the Ammo” is a true story series of unnamed (but not unknown) soldiers for Christ who stepped out of their comfort zone to obey the Holy Spirit’s call. To stay in the fight, we’ll need all the extra rounds we can get. So, praise the Lord, and pass the ammunition!

A Personal Touch

These days, to send a letter in the mail is almost an exercise in futility. It’s costly, time consuming, awkward. A copy and paste text message, or a generalized social media post will get more ‘views, likes, and comments.’ A single letter, addressed to a single person hardly adds up. It doesn’t have a place in the busy, great and grand scheme of things.

Until it does.

Her chore could be so much easier if she would automate. The envelopes would be mass printed. The letterhead would be standardized. The postage would be calculated. If she were running a business, she would have to streamline and become more efficient. To watch her tediously hand-write those notes and fold and carefully seal the envelope demands patience. The list of names is checked off conscientiously, one at a time. Her carefulness is evident, though not a soul takes time to observe her dedications.

Who cares?

The snowed in senior too unsteady to brave the elements receives the company they crave. A hospital bed is elevated by an encouraging guest. The family whose week ran too hectic to make it to church is reminded of their priorities. A pastor laboring too long at the study is reinvigorated by appreciation. A new mother gains confidence and aid through a folded piece of paper pressed open on her dining room table.

Who, and what is this great work? It is the work of one with a caring heart, with a watchful eye, with a ready pen. One who makes people feel important, the only person in the whole world.

It is extra effort. When no one is watching. Do YOU put out that kind of effort, Christian?

“…And having done all, to stand.”

Ephesians 6:13b
